As our long-term position with Mormora finally came to end, we knew we were going to bring in another natural process coffee. Finding the right coffee to follow Mormora was tricky, but we couldn’t be more excited to share Koke with you. When we compare these two coffees, they are from neighboring zones and processed in a similar manner, but the farm frameworks are quite different. Mormora is a large coffee estate that has around 500 hectares dedicated to farming coffee. The Koke Washing Station on the other hand is a family-owned station and was formed in 2011. With 96 small scale farmers providing cherries to Koke, it stands in contrast to the large estate framework of Mormora. Our importer, Ally Coffee, has been working with this station, which stands on the side of a hill with coffee grown above and below it, for five years and has seen constant improvement in coffee quality. Most of the producers are multigenerational family farmers who also plant maize and enset food crops alongside coffee. It offers the smooth body and distinctive berry notes that natural process coffee lovers will enjoy. We’re excited to showcase the hard work of these producers with you. Enjoy!
