Mwalyego AMCOS (Agricultural Marketing and Cooperative Society), operates the Mwalyego washing station, headed by Chairperson Edson W. Mwakalasya. This 150-farmer co-op is located in the Mbeya Region among the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. Importer Crop to Cup partners with Mwalyego AMCOS to provide training to co-op members as well as pre-financing — important for farmers anywhere, but particularly so in Tanzania, where most co-ops and farming groups don’t get paid until their coffee is dried, transported, milled and bagged for sale at the Tanzania Coffee Board Auction (usually several months after harvest). We were eager to team up with our friends at Crop to Cup to make this coffee available to you. Not only are we excited about the coffee, but we’re also proud to work with importers and cooperatives, who are working towards deepening relationships with producers to create a sustainable future for coffee in Tanzania.
