The name Serra Negra or “black mountain” is a mark created more than 20 years ago by our friends at Café Imports. In fact, Brazilian coffee was where Cafe Imports started: Founder and partner Andrew Miller imported his first container in 1994, bringing in a coffee that would be the genesis of their “signature” Brazil offering — Serra Negra. Since then, the quality and diversity from various regions and microregions represented by this coffee have inspired the development of microlot programs with some of the country’s most innovative producers. Over the years, Serra Negra has evolved, but it still  represents a Brazilian Natural profile that captures the most classic aspects of coffee from Minas Gerais, the growing region that includes Carmo de Minas. Processing in this region allows them to cup for nuttiness, lemon-like acidity, and a heavy body. Through Café Imports’ work with exporting partners in Brazil, they have continued to make this great workhorse coffee a staple offering, and one we are excited to offer you today.
