This year marks our importing partner Osito Coffee’s first time working with Cahoots Coffee in Uganda. The 2024 harvest is Cahoots Coffee’s first year of operation, though the mind behind Cahoots, Benjamin Jenkin, has spent the past decade living in Africa and working in coffee.
While Benjamin is the founder and driving force behind Cahoots, he's quick to emphasize that neither the company nor its coffees are about him. His focus is on elevating Ugandan coffees, and by extension, the farmers and staff who make Cahoots possible. This inaugural harvest, which Benjamin often refers to as “the first pancake,” went extremely well but wasn’t without challenges. A surging C-Market drove cherry prices to record highs in Uganda, creating two major hurdles: increased capital requirements and the delivery of inconsistent quality. These challenges exist for buyers even in “normal” years but skyrocketing cherry prices intensified them.
Other obstacles included limited drying space and unpredictable weather – common struggles for coffee producers everywhere. Instead of accepting these setbacks, Benjamin and his team hustled to transport coffees between drying sites while maintaining a relentless focus on quality. The result: remarkably well-processed, well-dried coffee that is both exceptionally clean and delicious. This is truly some of the best coffee that we have ever tried from Uganda.
This year is also the first time we are featuring a single origin coffee instead of a blend as part of our Summer Solstice series. We selected this coffee to showcase the amazing work being done by Cahoots in Uganda. In addition, it was another opportunity for us to continue supporting our long time sourcing partner, Osito, in their efforts to bring phenomenal Ugandan coffees to the specialty market. This coffee is bright and complex with a wide array of fruity flavors and a twizzler-esque finish.

FAQs
Shipping Information
We operate Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2 business days of the order or renewal date (not including weekends.) Your order will be shipped by UPS or USPS to your door. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.
Roasting Information
All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.
How do I purchase this as a gift?
You can include a note when adding the product to your cart (or by emailing our team) to request that certain coffees be excluded.
