Summary
The Facilities Lead + Fulfillment position is responsible for supporting both the physical operations and maintenance of Commonplace Coffee’s Headquarters as well as participating as a member on the Fulfillment team. The Facilities Lead will be accountable for maintenance, repairs, security, cleaning, and utilities to ensure the physical workplace at our Headquarters is safe, compliant with regulations, and well-maintained. They are responsible for communicating with Commonplace Coffee staff and leadership, coordinating with contractors, and planning maintenance schedules to keep the facility functional and efficient; guaranteeing the building is in optimal condition for its occupants. The Facilities Lead is also responsible for maintaining vehicles, equipment, and tools. As a member of the Fulfillment team, this individual will also safely, accurately, and efficiently carry out the order fulfillment process from start to finish, including packaging, shipping, and occasionally delivering products with craft and care.
This role is part-time with an expectation of 26 hours per week across a 4-5 day, Monday-Friday work week. Approximately 10-12 hours will be dedicated to the Facilities Lead role and 14-16 hours will be dedicated to Fulfillment work per week.
This position is ideal for someone with contracting and project management experience that likes to work with their hands. This position reports to the Wholesale Operations Manager.
Essential Functions: Maintenance & Repairs
- Develop and maintain appropriate systems and procedures to support preventative maintenance on the Commonplace Coffee Headquarters building.
- Schedule, organize, and perform maintenance activities for Commonplace Coffee Headquarters.
- Coordinate and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
- Understand and follow all safety, quality, and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Serve as the point person for meeting standards set by the county health department and state department agriculture.
- Shovel, salt, and provide general maintenance of the front and back entry areas of the building.
- Perform regular clearing of all gutters and drainage areas from the roof.
- Maintain communication and relationships with third-party service providers including contractors, cleaners, etc.
- Oversee the organization, removal, and recycling of pallets, cardboard boxes, and related items that accumulate in the warehouse.
- Maintain and improve the overall organization and cleanliness of the back warehouse.
- Receive, unpack, and support deliveries.
- Support maintenance requests for other Commonplace Coffee facilities, as assigned.
Essential Functions: Fleet Management
- Oversee and maintain the Commonplace Coffee fleet including scheduling vehicles for regular service, inspections, etc.
- Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with leadership to address and resolve issues as they arise.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle fleet and institute protocols for proper management.
- Coordinate vehicle swaps, as needed.
- Work with marketing to implement branding on all Commonplace Coffee fleet vehicles.
- Obey all traffic laws and constantly stay alert while driving.
Essential Functions: Fulfillment
- Accurately and efficiently fulfill coffee orders for pickup, shipment, and delivery.
- Coordinate and communicate all necessary order details with the Fulfillment Manager.
- Communicate inventory levels frequently and accurately to the Fulfillment Manager.
- Communicate and properly record maintenance needs for equipment.

Qualifications
- 6+ months working in a warehouse or production environment.
- Experience in contracting, electrical, plumbing strongly preferred.
- Ability to accurately assess mechanical problems, make recommendations, communicate effectively, and resolve issues quickly while working under pressure.
- Demonstrated history of safe work habits.

Physical Demands
- Stand and walk – must be able to stand in place for several hours
- Perform repetitive tasks – must be able to complete repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and forearms to operate packaging equipment and vehicles.
- Carry weight, lift – must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 150 pounds occasionally.
- Stooping – bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Oral communication – must be able to clearly and effectively communicate with team members.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a warehouse environment.
- The work environment can be noisy.
- The work and work environment can be hazardous, including proximity to moving parts, moving vehicles, work with electrical currents, and exposure to high heat and harsh chemicals.
