Commonplace Coffee Rockwell Park opened in December of 2022, but its story started much earlier. Rockwell Park represents the continuation of our Point Breeze cafe, which first opened in the summer of 2018 on tree-lined Reynolds street. We enjoyed spending time in its outdoor garden patio, an understated oasis for which our barista-developed Oasis Blend was named. We also loved getting to know the community, including our wonderful neighbors and the incredible small businesses in the area.

In the spring of 2022, we were approached with an opportunity to open a cafe in a new development known as Rockwell Park. At the time, our future in Point Breeze had become uncertain, and it felt like a moment of serendipity. We had the chance to continue to operate in a community that we cared deeply about. Later that year, we made the difficult decision to close our Point Breeze cafe and move all of our staff and equipment to Rockwell Park.

Rockwell Park is an eight-building campus situated on a 24-acre former industrial site, which is being transformed into modern offices, manufacturing spaces, and more. Unlike many of our other cafes, we had a chance to start from scratch, helping to design the bar and cafe from the ground up.

We worked closely with Indovina Architects, Studio Lokken, and the Rockwell Park development team to build an intentional space that highlights the craft of coffee and serves as a space for community. Sometimes we still can’t believe we get to work in a space with beautiful details like the stunning tile on our coffee bar, which was manufactured locally by Limelight Tile & Ceramics in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

We’re located in the middle of the Rockwell Park plaza, accessible from both Thomas Boulevard and Meade Street. Enjoy a cappuccino in our cozy cafe or right outside the garage door on the sunlit plaza.

Parking: On street, with plenty of availability on Meade Street and more limited availability on Thomas Boulevard.
