PITTSBURGH – MAY 25, 2021 â€“ Under the leadership of Commonplace Coffee, eight Pennsylvania-based coffee roasters have joined forces to celebrate coffee, community, and raise money to support those struggling with food insecurity during this tough year.

Participating roasters will be roasting the same coffee—a delicious, bright, and juicy coffee grown in El Tambo, in Colombia’s Cauca department. The coffee is produced by a group of farmers who are part ofAMACA (Asociación de Mujeres Productoras Agropecuarias del Cauca). AMACA was formed in 1999 by 80 women from El Tambo. The group has grown to now include more than 140 smallholder members, all women farm owners and heads of household, and their coffee is fantastic.

Each roaster will put their own unique twist on this delicious coffee, roasting it true to their own style. Coffee will be packaged in 12oz. bags and sold throughout the city—with $5 from each sale going to Feeding Pennsylvania, a non-profit association of nine food banks located throughout the state. 1389 pounds of coffee have been purchased and once sold, will generate a donation of over $7500.

Participating roasters are: 19 Coffee, Arriviste, Commonplace Coffee, De Fer Coffee & Tea, La Prima, Redstart Roasters, Reginald’s Coffee, and Rothrock Coffee. Coffee will be available from all roasters starting May 25th until it is sold out.

We also hope to bring a full week of coffee and community-related events to the city when Pittsburgh Coffee Week (PCW) returns this fall.

About Arriviste

Arriviste Coffee began in 2017 as a specialty coffee shop in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh. In 2021, they became the first coffee roaster in the region to use the Bellwether — a 100% electric, zero-emissions, commercial-grade roaster designed and built in Berkeley, CA. Arriviste uses only sustainably sourced green coffee from all the major growing regions, with a focus not only on quality but also environmentally sound farming practices and economic and gender empowerment for the producers.

About Reginald’s

Reginald’s Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster with a cafe in a historic landmark in the heart of Bethel Park (30 minutes south of Pittsburgh). Our story starts with a passion for 3 things: coffee, dogs, and reviving old buildings. We small batch roast and brew the highest quality beans, responsibly sourced from farms all around the world.  We are careful with our drinks and put a little extra love into every one that we make. We encourage our customers to ask questions and learn about coffee in a comfortable place. Coffee is about community – it’s about meeting up with a friend, running into your neighbor, grabbing a drink on the way to the playground with the kiddos, or having a place to sit with your best friend (aka your dog). We promise to put our heart into your coffee and we promise to do our part to bring cool things to the suburbs. Come say hi, we can’t wait to meet you.

About Rothrock

Rothrock Coffee is a specialty coffee roastery located in State College, Pennsylvania. Our name was inspired by countless caffeine-fueled outings in the mountains of Rothrock State Forest. Our goal is to share our passion for coffee and exploration. We source, roast, test, and brew the best coffee, in hopes that it will inspire some adventures of your own.
