The coffee officially hit Commonplace Coffee shelves this week, on Tuesday, July 5, and will be available in their lineup for one calendar year through July 31, 2023. Commonplace Coffee will donate 25% of proceeds from sales of this coffee to Hello Neighbor. Hello Neighbor and Commonplace Coffee will also be hosting a popup event to celebrate the release of the blend at Commonplace Coffee’s Squirrel Hill location at 5827 Forbes Avenue on Saturday, July 16, from 10am-2pm. Local vendors will include: Valkyrie Donuts, Dragonflies & Lavender, MF Bags, Greater Pittsburgh Flower Collective, and more. Hello Neighbor Blend will also be available for purchase as brewed drip coffee for the event and at all Commonplace Coffee locations the weekend of July 16-17.
In 2022, Hello Neighbor expanded the scope of their services and received federal approval to provide resettlement in Allegheny County. Sloane Davidson, founder and CEO at Hello Neighbor shares, “Since January 2022, we have resettled 206 Afghan individuals, secured 60 permanent housing units, enrolled 63 kids in school, and had over 700 volunteer hours logged. This was all only possible because of the tireless work of the Hello Neighbor staff and the help of volunteers, community partners, and funders.”
Of the collaboration, Davidson says, “This year-long partnership is incredible and immeasurably important. Commonplace Coffee has an imprint in our community – reaches so many individuals – which, in turn, means all of those folks will have the chance to not only hear about Hello Neighbor’s mission but contribute to it through their daily brew.” She adds, “Funds from this partnership will be used within all of our programming, with a focus on our family-based programming. We also look forward to year 2 of resettlement and continuing to grow our support services for new neighbors!”
