PITTSBURGH, PA (June 17, 2020) – Commonplace Coffee and Local Roots Landscaping recently launched a collaborative Morning Blend coffee with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting 412 Food Rescue and the NAACP Pittsburgh Branch. The limited edition coffee is available for purchase at Commonplace shops and online at commonplacecoffee.com through July 8.

“Our mission is ‘cultivating beautiful communities in Pittsburgh from the outside in,’ and our driving force as a company is to make Pittsburgh a better place to live, interact, and thrive. We are a landscaping company, but we want to contribute more to our communities than outdoor aesthetics alone,” said Patrick Murray, Owner of Local Roots Landscaping. “Regularly giving back through charitable contributions of our time, talent, and resources has been important to us since we began our business seven years ago. It’s our ethos, and we’re so excited to partner with Commonplace Coffee on this special blend to support two very special organizations.”

412 Food Rescue works to reduce food waste and hunger within the Pittsburgh community. Proceeds will benefit restaurant workers while at the same time providing meals for those in need through the organization’s new Community Takeout Program. The mission of the NAACP is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons. The NAACP Pittsburgh Branch recently launched the campaign We Are Done Dying to work to protect African American communities that are under attack from police brutality and health disparities surrounding COVID-19. Funds will be divided evenly between 412 Food Rescue and the NAACP Pittsburgh Chapter.

“We are honored to partner with Local Roots to release this coffee, which is one of our most balanced blends by design,” said Lauren Young, Commonplace’s Marketing & Communications Manager. “We encourage everyone who purchases a bag – or not – to familiarize themselves with both organizations and seek out ways they might multiply their impact by getting involved.”
