Commonplace Coffee: What are some unique features or cultural aspects of Highland Park that translate into the “fancy, diverse, pretty, passionate, vibrant, and jazzy” tasting notes of the blend?
Alana Wenk: Highland Park is one of Pittsburgh’s most historic parks. It’s been a central gathering place for Pittsburghers for decades and has a robust history.
It’s a unique park because it has vast recreational activities, such as the Super Playground, volleyball courts, a bike track, and more, plus the Victorian Gardens and the reservoir — it’s such a special place for all to enjoy.
Commonplace Coffee: What are the PPC’s future plans for Highland Park?
Alana Wenk: We’re currently planning the 2022 PNC Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Spring Hat Luncheon event in Highland Park! This event is extra exciting since it will be the first time we’ve been able to host the fundraiser since 2019, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Also, the City of Pittsburgh recently began construction on the brand new “Super Playground,” so we’re really looking forward to watching that project come to life.
