Meet Oasis, our first-ever barista developed blend. Unlike our typical blend development process, which is headed up by our roasting team and takes place at Commonplace Coffee Headquarters, this blend was developed at our Point Breeze cafe by Shop Manager Trey White and Lead Barista Micah Jasper. Their primary goal was to introduce our community to a coffee that is just as adventurous as it is approachable.

 

Trey told us, “Baristas are the members of our team who hear feedback and do hands-on work with the coffee every day. Allowing baristas to develop a blend strengthens the connection between our roasters and guests.”

TASTING NOTES: Date, milk chocolate, and cherry

Oasis rounds out our blend lineup by offering a creamy mouthfeel and balanced sweetness while introducing a gentle acidity and fruitiness to your cup that can be enjoyed year-round. The combination of washed and natural processed Ethiopian coffees leads to an equilibrium of refined fruitiness in every sip, without booziness or extreme acidity. Martir, Colombia rounds out the blend with its milder, chocolatey notes.

DESIGN: Creamy mouthfeel, subtle fruitiness, balanced sweetness, brew method versatility CURRENTLY: Martir, Colombia; Chelbesa Gedeb, Ethiopia; Mensur Abahika, Ethiopia

Micah and Trey especially enjoy Oasis as a V60 pour over, either hot or flash brewed over ice. This blend’s versatility means it is equally delicious as an espresso, drip coffee, or cold brew.

Micah’s V60 Recipe

Grind: medium fine (EK43 13-15)
Coffee: 24g
Water: 360g, 207 degrees
Bloom: start timer and pour 50g

 

At 30 seconds, pour to 360g
Finish pouring by 1:20
Finish dripping by 3:00
