PITTSBURGH, PA (September 12, 2024) – The Commonplace Coffee Bakery relaunched a food program at Pittsburgh-based Commonplace Coffee cafes on Monday, September 9. This announcement comes more than two years since their bakery last provided breakfast and lunch items to those locations.
The Commonplace Coffee Bakery launch is led by new bakery manager Natalie Prunty with assistance from long-time Commonplace Coffee head baker Cari Meil. The duo will reintroduce many of the bakery’s most iconic items including streusel-topped blueberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies dusted with a touch of sea salt. They aim to bake with a focus on comfort, community, and fresh ingredients.
Natalie shares, “I'm so excited to bring these baked goods back to our Pittsburgh fans, who have been asking about them these past few years.” She adds, “Some are family recipes from our Head Baker Cari, others are recipes she has developed and refined over the past nine years, and all of them come from the heart. I am honored to help steward her incredible work and the next chapter for the bakery and Commonplace Coffee story.”
The Commonplace Coffee Bakery is located in Shelocta, Pennsylvania, just outside Indiana, where Commonplace Coffee launched its first cafe. Established in 2015, the bakery operates out of a commercial kitchen located on Reeger’s Farm. For the past two years, the bakery has continued to support the two Indiana-based Commonplace Coffee cafes. With a focus on increased freshness and variety, the transition back into Pittsburgh will include more frequent and earlier deliveries than previously provided.
Menu items will include staple offerings such as chocolate chip cookies, kids’ sprinkle cookies, blueberry muffins, vegan birdie bars (made from dates and seeds), coffee cake, granola, sticky buns, rice crispy treats, breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, quiche, grilled cheese, and turkey sandwiches. They will also offer rotating, seasonal items each week including cookies, muffins, scones, salads, and more.
