PITTSBURGH, PA (March 21, 2023) – Commonplace Coffee has partnered with nonprofit Indiana County Parks & Trails to release their first collaborative donation coffee of 2023, Blue Spruce Park Blend. This coffee will be available for sale online starting Tuesday, March 21, and will be available in Indiana Commonplace Coffee locations beginning Thursday, March 23. It will run for eight weeks through May 9. You can learn more about the coffee and purchase a 12oz bag priced at $18.50 at all Commonplace Coffee locations and online at commonplacecoffee.com/coffees. Blue Spruce Park Blend will also be available for purchase as brewed drip coffee at all Commonplace Coffee locations on Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26.
Ed Patterson, director at Indiana County Parks & Trails, shares, “We operate 15 sites in Indiana County, including regional parks, bike trails, conservation areas, natural areas, fishing lakes, covered bridges, and historic sites.” What people may not know is that “very few counties in Pennsylvania of our population size (83,500) have as extensive of a county park system. To drive to all the sites we operate would be a 230-mile trip throughout the county.”
Commonplace Coffee will donate a portion of retail and wholesale proceeds from coffee sales to Indiana County Parks & Trails. Funds raised from this project will be used to construct an accessible pathway that will allow persons of all abilities to reach the chickadee hand-feeding area at Blue Spruce Park.
Of the partnership, Commonplace Coffee founder TJ Fairchild says, “I love enjoying the local Indiana parks and trails with family and friends. A few years ago, I found this magical place where you can feed the birds, and through this project, I was able to meet Ray Winstead, who first trained the birds at Blue Spruce Park.” TJ adds, “It has been an honor to work together on this collaborative coffee. It is even more special, as Commonplace Coffee celebrates its 20th anniversary, to have the chance to give back to an organization that means so much to me personally.”
Commonplace Coffee will be hosting a kick-off tasting event at the Lakeside Center at Blue Spruce Park on Sunday, March 19, from 1-3pm. The event is free and open to the public, who can learn more about the blend and taste samples of the coffee before its official launch. To learn more and support Indiana County Parks & Trails, visit indianacountyparks.org.
