Our 2023-2024 year-long charitable giving partner is Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR). Founded in 1972, PAAR was the first victim service agency in Allegheny County, and one of the first rape crisis centers in the nation. Proceeds from this blend benefit PAAR’s mission of providing comprehensive services to victims of sexual violence and their families, serving children and adults of all gender identities, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
This blend is comprised of two coffees. The first, Mapendo Next, is a washed SL-34 lot produced by the Mapendo Cooperative in South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. We selected this component for its bright acidity, tropical fruit notes, and clarity. The second coffee was grown by Carolina Posada, a producer from Antioquai, Colombia. We met Carolina during her trip to hand deliver green coffee samples to coffee roasters across the Northeast. We selected her washed Castillo lot for its sweetness and darker fruit notes, which round out the acidity of Mapendo Next. Together these coffees create a blend that is both vibrant yet approachable.
