What started as a simple and kind message during the pandemic has evolved into a multi-year and multi-product collaboration between Commonplace Coffee and legendary folk artist Jim Pollock. One of our favorite projects, Pollock Blend has become a seasonal staple in our lineup – 2025 marks our fifth year offering this donation-based coffee. 

Jim Pollock is based in Pittsburgh and has been creating art for both the music industry and causes near to his heart for 30+ years. His iconic, folk art imagery has become synonymous with the band Phish, for whom he has created art since they met at Goddard college in Vermont in the 1980s. Jim has also designed for brands such as Ben & Jerry's, Burton, Magic Hat, Celestial Seasonings, HeadCount, and bands, including Primus, Disco Biscuits, Umphrey's McGee, and many more. Jim’s custom artwork is featured in a fresh iteration on this year’s blend label.

Proceeds from the sale of this coffee benefit Divided Sky Foundation, an organization founded by Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, which delivers quality care and compassionate treatment to those affected by alcoholism and addiction.

After tasting multiple options, Jim selected this delicious three-component blend. It includes: La Bendicion, Nicaragua; Ella Todos Santos, Guatemala; and Nesru Aba Nura, Ethiopia. Producer Nesru Aba Nura’s coffee presents with mellow acidity and berry notes. It has long been a favorite of Jim Pollock. The coffee from La Bendicion is the glue that holds this blend together – it is bright and full-bodied, with strong notes of berry and citrus. The final coffee rounding out this blend is from Ella Todos Santos – incredibly sweet with notes of candied nuts and assorted fruit.

Shipping Information

We operate Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2 business days of the order or renewal date (not including weekends.) Your order will be shipped by UPS or USPS to your door. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.

Roasting Information

All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.
