Springtime is upon us, and that means we have a new coffee blend collaboration with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy (PPC)! This year’s blend celebrates PPC’s 30th anniversary, embodying attributes found within the green heart of Pittsburgh’s parks.

This year’s blend contains three coffees. The first component is from Maria Ines Leal and Daniel Skinner-Klee via Finca Concepción in Guatemala: a bright, yet balanced washed coffee with notes of dark chocolate, nuts, and assorted fruits. We were introduced to Maria and Daniel by our good friend and wholesale client, Derek Davis from Cafe Conmigo! We’ve been working with Maria and Daniel for almost a year and are so excited for this new purchasing relationship. 

The second component is a natural Nicaraguan coffee from legendary coffee producer Luis Alberto Balladarez and his farm ‘Un Regalo de Dios’. This coffee is acidic and juicy with notes of citrus and tropical fruits. It adds a pop of acidity upfront, along with subtle fruity notes to balance out some of the more rich qualities of the blend. Luis is an amazing coffee producer that we have been purchasing from for the past five years. His coffee tends to find its way into our springtime blends!

The third component is a washed coffee from Hulikere Estate in India; this coffee has predominantly nutty and umami notes with a silky body that adds balance to the blend. While creating Green Heart Blend, this coffee's sweet earthiness and full body was consistently our common denominator. Though only 20% of the final blend, it's profile still manages to shine through and provide so much character.

Together, these coffees form an approachable, sweet, and juicy blend that is a great companion for the beautiful spring days.

We have found that this blend to excels in all brew methods we tried. We recommend trying your standard “go-to” recipe to start! 

FAQs

Shipping Information

We operate and roast Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2-4 business days (not including weekends). All items will ship together. Your order will be delivered by UPS or USPS to your door within 2-4 business days of the package being shipped. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.

Roasting Information

All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.
