We’re incredibly excited to introduce this offering as our 2026-2027 year-long donation blend! This coffee is presented in collaboration with Pittsburgh hockey icon Kris Letang, with proceeds benefiting a nonprofit close to our hearts, Beneficio.

We connected with Kris many months ago through our friend and wholesale partner Derek Davies of Cafe Conmigo. At the time, it was simply an opportunity to engage with someone passionate about coffee, who wanted to learn more about sourcing, roasting, and tasting. As conversation continued, it was clear that Kris puts the same level of passion he has on ice into other parts of his life, including coffee. We were honored to work with him to create this blend that gives back to the coffee community and our partners at origin.

Proceeds from Tanger Blend benefit Beneficio, a nonprofit founded by members of importer/exporter Osito Coffee. Beneficio was founded on Osito’s desire to make a bigger and longer lasting impact on the lives of people in the communities in which they work. Their primary goal is to address environmental, social, and emergency issues in coffee and cacao producing communities that go above and beyond paying more for their raw material. Beneficio hopes to listen intently to the needs of the communities and address some of these issues head on in collaborative ways.

Kris is big fan of espresso and his ideal cup of coffee is nutty, chocolatey, and smooth. These descriptors often apply to coffees from across Central America. As such, that is where our initial search for blend components started. When we held a tasting with Kris to learn more about his coffee preferences, we found that he was very fond of Mexican coffees we had to sample from Chiapas and Oaxaca. We toyed around with combinations of blends and he loved the synergy between the soft, silky and chocolatey Mexican profiles and the clean, bright and fruity profiles of East African coffees. Together we found a blend profile that was sweet, nutty and had deep, rich flavors of dates and other dried fruits, sweet baking spices and chocolate.

As this blend changes and evolves over the next year, expect elite play from our Big 3: Mexico, Burundi and Ethiopia. Together they will create a sweet and comfortable coffee that will be sure to make it a hockey morning in Pittsburgh.

Shipping Information

We operate and roast Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2-4 business days (not including weekends). All items will ship together. Your order will be delivered by UPS or USPS to your door within 2-4 business days of the package being shipped. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.

Roasting Information

All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.
