This is our fourth year purchasing coffee from Nesru Aba Nura via our dear friends at Osito Coffee. Nesru’s coffee has becoming one of our favorite offerings yearly and is a phenomenal representation of the beautiful natural processed coffees from Ethiopia we all know and love.

Nesru is a member of a group called Tokuma Coffee Farmers, a collective of single producers in the Agaro area of the Jimma zone. Tokuma Coffee Farmers works together on marketing, exporting, and sharing coffee knowledge, which allows them to improve their overall cup quality and more effectively market their coffee to prospective buyers. These factors, coupled with the help of Addis Exporter and Osito Coffee, have helped producers like Nesru achieve market access to specialty coffee roasters all over the world.

Groups like Tokuma Coffee Farmers provide a unique opportunity for all parties in the specialty supply chain: highly traceable, single producer lots from Ethiopia where the producers have full control over their coffee. Given Ethiopian coffee production is largely dominated by large cooperatives and processing stations, we are grateful for the opportunity to purchase and share with you these distinctive coffees from individual members of the Tokuma Coffee Farmers.  (For what it is worth, many of these larger bodies provide an invaluable service to the farmers they work with by giving producers very consistent avenues to sell their coffee.)

Nesru, and other members of Tokuma Coffee Farmers, feel a deep sense of pride in maintaining control over their operations and receiving the recognition and rewards they deserve for their hard work. Over the years of Osito Coffee and Addis Exporters working directly with these farmers, they have seen dramatic improvements in their lives with the profits from their labor. Many have been able to expand their farms, plant more trees, and improve agricultural practices through techniques like pruning and stumping. Beyond coffee, they’ve diversified their businesses, offering employment to local community members and improving the livelihoods of their families.

As always, we have selected Nesru’s coffee for our lineup to continue our purchasing relationship with her. She is a fabulous and consistent coffee producer who has consistently impressed us year after year with stunningly clean and expressive natural processed coffees; this year is no exception.

FAQs

Shipping Information

We operate Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2 business days of the order or renewal date (not including weekends.) Your order will be shipped by UPS or USPS to your door. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.

Roasting Information

All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.

How do I purchase this as a gift?

You can include a note when adding the product to your cart (or by emailing our team) to request that certain coffees be excluded.
