This is our second year purchasing coffee from Sylvia Achebet and Masha Coffee, via our friends at Crop to Cup Coffee Importers.

Uganda is the first country that our sourcing partner Crop to Cup began working in back in 2007. Uganda is the self-proclaimed “pearl of Africa” and coffee has long been central to its economy. Uganda’s coffee production is largely Robusta from the central lowlands, while Arabica thrives on Mount Elgon (which is split on the border of Kenya and where this coffee is from) and Rwenzoris in the southwest of Uganda.

Over decades as a community nurse, Sylvia and her now husband, Dr. Alfred, came to know the villages around them through vaccination drives and household care - and later turned that same commitment towards coffee. Sylvia founded Masha Coffee from her family farm in Kween District, high in the Mt. Elgon Reserve. Her goal with Masha was to give growers a platform to better sell their coffee, and in 2024 she was able to expand her reach by finishing work on a washing station in nearby Sipi Falls.

We selected this coffee to highlight the traceability and elegance of Masha Kween’s coffee. This coffee is sweet, cola-like and has eclectic notes of black tea, cranberry and assorted citrus fruits.

FAQs

Shipping Information

We operate Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2 business days of the order or renewal date (not including weekends.) Your order will be shipped by UPS or USPS to your door. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.

Roasting Information

All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.

How do I purchase this as a gift?

You can include a note when adding the product to your cart (or by emailing our team) to request that certain coffees be excluded.
