This is our fifth year purchasing coffee from Luis Alberto Balladarez, via our friends at The Coffee Quest Importers.
Luis Alberto Balladarez is a fourth generation coffee producer, agronomist engineer, and an expert in post-harvest processing. He is, by many accounts, one of the most talented and consistent coffee producers in Nicaragua (if not globally!). Luis has also received many awards for his work, achieving two first place finishes in Nicaragua’s Cup of Excellence Competition in 2018 and 2020 and multiple top ten placements going back to 2010.
This coffee comes from Finca Un Regalo de Dios in the Dipilto-Jalapa mountain range of Nueva Segovia in northern Nicaragua (where Luis has multiple farms). Un Regalo de Dios, meaning “A Gift from God,” is Luis’ pride and joy: located in a lush forest protected on three sides by high mountains, the microclimate at this farm is nothing short of a miracle. The loose, sandy soil with rich humus (an organic and crucial component of topsoil), optimal yearly rainfall, diverse ecosystem of fauna and flora, and abundant trees to provide shade result in extraordinary coffee.
First and foremost, we chose this coffee continue our buying relationship with Luis Alberto. We also want to continue highlighting the amazing output from Luis and his farms in Nicaragua. This coffee has a soft, full bodied mouthfeel with sweet notes of a milky dulce de leche, chocolate and assorted fruits like orange and berries.
FAQs
Shipping Information
We operate and roast Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2-4 business days (not including weekends). All items will ship together. Your order will be delivered by UPS or USPS to your door within 2-4 business days of the package being shipped. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.
Roasting Information
All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.
How do I purchase this as a gift?
