This is our first year purchasing coffee from Finca La Acacia via Cima Cafe.
In February of 2026, Commonplace Coffee’s Head of Coffee, Vikki Harris, was an international judge for a coffee competition in Yoro, Honduras called YorExpo. This competition was put together by our very good friends at Cima Cafe, with the express purpose of: shining a light on the astronomical potential these producers have to cultivate and process exceptional coffees. Here, we were introduced to some of the best coffees that the region of Yoro has to offer, and we also made purchasing commitments to 4 of the coffees that placed in the top 10 of the competition! This lot from Finca La Acacia placed 4th in YorExpo.
Yoro is a historically underrepresented coffee growing region in Honduras. When specialty coffee companies look to purchase high-end coffee from Honduras, there are a few locations that are almost always top of mind: Santa Barbara and La Paz, Intibucá and Lempira, etc.. Yoro, as of now, is seen by most buyers as a place for quantity over quality.
Finca La Acacia is a 5 manzana (roughly 8.5 acre) farm in Champerico, near the municipality of Victoria, Yoro overseen by Luis Alberto Redondo Ramirez. For this lot, Luis starts by only picking the ripest cherries, then depulps (the same day) at his own wet mill, and lastly he performs an extended fermentation of the pulped coffee for about 16 hours. From here, the coffee was taken to be dried in a dome-style solar dryer.
We selected this coffee to support the efforts of Cima Cafe in highlighting the quality that can be found in Yoro, as well as to support the great work of Luis Redondo at Finca La Acacia. This coffee is bright, tart, and sweet with notes of dried cranberries and raisin, toffee, walnut, and occasionally citrus akin to lemon-lime.
FAQs
Shipping Information
We operate and roast Monday-Friday and strive to ship your order within 2-4 business days (not including weekends). All items will ship together. Your order will be delivered by UPS or USPS to your door within 2-4 business days of the package being shipped. You will receive a tracking notification when your order ships.
Roasting Information
All coffee is roasted fresh to order on our Loring S35 Kestrel Coffee Roaster. All bags are stamped with the roast date, and we think coffee tastes best if consumed within 2-4 weeks. However, if left whole bean and stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, the coffee can remain enjoyable for up to 4-6 months, depending on the bag or container. Most of our coffee is roasted to a medium or light/medium roast level, except for All Day, which is our staple dark roast offering.
